1. Web Site Terms of Use
By using the Website, you agree to be bound by this Agreement and all applicable laws governing this Agreement. If you do not agree with any of it, you should leave the Website and discontinue your use of it immediately. The site administrator reserves the right to modify any or all terms of this Agreement from time to time and such modification shall be effective immediately upon being posted on the Website. You agree to be bound to any changes to this Agreement when you use the Website after any such modification is posted.
1.2 This site is for academic study related to personal experiences about multiculturalism by people living in Canada. The research is being conducted under the auspices of Royal Roads University. You are free to browse the site and are not under any obligation to submit content.
1.3 By submitting content, you are consenting to the use of your submitted content as part of the academic study associated with the site, as well as to having your submission included in the documentation, publication and promotion of the results of the research in all forms of media including, but not limited to print, video, and web formats and publications.
1.4 All information provided by you when you submit content shall be governed by the Privacy Policy attached in Section 2. All Content published shall be available for Visitors to view. The site administrator reserves the right to edit content for length, and to crop images submitted as posts.
1.5 You represent and warrant that (a) all information you submit is truthful and that you are NINETEEN (19) years of age or older and are capable of entering into a legally binding contract or that you are being supervised by someone who is NINETEEN (19) years of age or older.
1.6 The site administrator, who is the primary researcher, reserves the right to withhold publishing any and all content submitted to the site, including but not limited to content considered racist, defamatory, pornographic, offensive, obscene, lewd, excessively violent, harassing, sexually explicit, discriminatory or otherwise illegal or objectionable in nature.
1.7 The site administrator does not assume any responsibility for the content submitted for which you retain complete responsibility. The site administrator does not endorse any content nor does any content posted on the Website necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the site administrator. The site administrator makes no warranties, express or implied, as to any submitted content, or to the accuracy or reliability of any submitted content.
1.8 The site administrator shall have the right and license to use (or not use) content submitted to the site and to modify, edit, alter, remix, juxtapose, compile, publish, display, reproduce, publicly perform, broadcast, to communicate to the public by telecommunication, exhibit, and promote without your prior written consent, so long as such Authorized Uses are connected to the academic research (stated above) and in making known the results of such research. Any derivative works created by the primary administrator with content submitted to the site will be owned by the site administrator.
1.9 The site administrator reserves the right to use a selected segment of any submitted content elsewhere on the site; in social media; and/or other publications in order to create awareness about the academic research project.
1.10 You represent and warrant that your content submission is all original to you and is owned or licensed in its entirety by you at the time of the upload and that you have the right to make the grant of license set forth in the preceding paragraph.
1.11 The site administrator is not obliged to pay you any consideration, royalties, fees or buy-outs of any kind or nature for your submitted content. All claims for monetary or non-monetary consideration, compensation, royalties, fees or buy-outs for your content submission, along with any claims for moral rights, are expressly and forever waived by you.
1.12 The site administrator reserves the right to unilaterally remove from the Website any material that it deems to be in violation of this Agreement.
1.13 The site administrator owns all right, title and interest, including without limitation all intellectual property rights, and all derivative works or enhancements thereof, relating to the Website (and any derivative works or enhancements thereof), including but not limited to all information, content, materials, products, services, URLs, software, technology, user guides, documentation and music, and shall be permitted unfettered use of this material.
1.14 Until June 1, 2013, which is the end date of the initial data collection, you may request to have content withdrawn from the site that you have submitted. You may contact the researcher here. After June 1, your submission may still be removed as an individual post from the website, but not from its inclusion in works created about the academic research project.
1.5 Multiculturalism At 40 has not reviewed all of the sites linked to its Internet web site and is not responsible for the contents of any such linked site. The inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement by Multiculturalism At40 of the site. Use of any such linked web site is at the user’s own risk.
2. Privacy Policy
Your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information is important to Multiculturalism At 40. This Policy explains the circumstances under which your personal information is collected and used, and how it is protected. Your personal information includes such things as your first and last nam, e-mail address, preferred language, place of residence, including city or Province.
2.1 Before or at the time of collecting personal information, we will identify the purposes for which information is being collected.
2.2 We will collect and use of personal information solely with the objective of fulfilling those purposes specified by us and for other compatible purposes, unless we obtain the consent of the individual concerned or as required by law.
2.3 We will only retain personal information as long as necessary for the fulfillment of the academic study and subsequent documentation and reporting of findings.
2.4 We will collect personal information by lawful and fair means and, where appropriate, with the knowledge or consent of the individual concerned.
2.5 Personal data should be relevant to the purposes for which it is to be used, and to the extent necessary for those purposes, should be accurate, complete and up-to-date.
2.6 We will protect personal information by reasonable security safeguards against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
2.7 We will make readily available information about our policies and practices relating to the management of personal information.
