Short Explanation

You’re invited to contribute a story or photo to this public storytelling project that explores the everyday experience of multiculturalism.   Canada was first in the world to adopt a multiculturalism policy just over 40 years ago – and its entire history is one shaped by intersecting cultures. So collectively, we have a lot of varied life experience.  That’s what lies at the heart of this academic research project.

It’s about all our stories – whether you have recently arrived, have roots that go back a few years, several generations, or to a time before there was a Canada. The project is meant to create a space for individual perspectives while developing an online collective experience.  Simply describe a time or a moment in your everyday life when you were aware of a cultural intersection – it could be interacting with someone whose background varied from yours, or with some aspect of a culture that was new to you. You are also welcome to simply visit the site.

If you would like to submit in a language other than English, the automated translator will help. Try clicking one of the flags on the right for the language you wish to use. It will also provide a very rough translation of what’s on the site.  That’s the short summary of the project. if you’d like to know more, head back to the home page and thanks for your interest!
